Day 85: 3 Month Weigh-in
Almost forgot to mention, I didn’t notice this until the next morning, but this is the condition the back of my ankles were in after Friday’s workout. Apparently the elastic band I use to add resistance to my lunges had some extra teeth that day and caused matching, wide open to the world, blisters. Nothing some antibiotics and band-aids can’t take care of, but still…
So, today I did my 3 month weigh in. Overall, it looked pretty flat across the board from last month, and my push-ups actually dropped, which really surprised me. Mike thinks its because he had fun with us last Friday and worked us on the Heavy Bag and the punching mitts. So, I had a real hard time getting comfortable. He says I kept trying to protect my shoulders. Considering I was taking ibuprofen yesterday to keep the inflammation down, I think he’s probably right.
STATS:
Tanita Body Fat = 24.5%
Weight = 268lbs
Pushups = 28(.5 I think Mike is trying to encourage me by counting that 1/2 push up)
12 Min Run = 1.25 mi
Mikes Plan:
As for starting a new routine, Mike decided to wait another week or two. Christmas is tomorrow, Brett’s out of town until next Monday and Mike’s out of the gym on Thursday and Friday, so he didn’t want to start anything new while I have no support and would likely have questions.
Also, the gym will be closed on Tuesdays and will have odd hours on Mondays, and the Pool is closed at least on Tuesdays, if not Mondays as well, so everything is just pretty wonky. With all of that in mind, Mike wants to hold with the last routine until after the holidays.
Food:
So, finally, just a quick look at this evening/season’s junkfood offerings. Our family doesn’t even celebrate Christmas, and yet, good, fattening food abounds. This morning there was a Christmas party for the kids in the office cafeteria. There were muffins, donuts, cookies, juices, pastries and all sorts of other stuff all day free for the taking. There have been several ‘end of year’ dinners/lunches that were free for employees, one of which I skipped. Since I’m not a drinker, I also skipped on several “after hours” events at the local watering hole, where I could have gotten free alcohol. Sara, who sits in the cubicle across for me, has had candy canes and chocolates in her cube for all to eat since before Thanksgiving. All of this, offered up free of charge to poor unsuspecting triathletes-in-training. What’s a guy to do?
Even my wife, who decided to cook for Grandma tonight surprised us with a full pan of brownies. Now, these brownies SHOULD have been on the video in the previous post, but since we hadn’t had these in a while, they slipped my mind. My wife and I make a great team on these. She eats the edges and I eat the middles, and we can finish off a pan in about 2 days. I’ve used considerable restraint this evening, and have only had 2 smaller-than-normal pieces. Thats it. Done for the night.

I initially said “Antibiotics” up there. I meant an antibacterial/antibiotic ointment. Not the pills or meds. Oops.
And it may be hard to tell from the photo, but that’s raw flesh there. There’s no skin at all in those patches. The weirdest part was that I didn’t really notice them until the next morning as I sat on the couch and wondered what was causing this dull burn every time I touched the backs of my ankles to the couch fabric. Ouch
