Day 80: Brett, Weights & Pain. Lots of Pain

This morning as I was getting ready for work, I threw on my gray (heather) polo shirt, and the cuffs were tight around my biceps.  I exclaimed, “What’s going on with this? Something’s wrong,” to which my wife replied, “Your arms are getting bigger. Your shirts just too tight.”  I looked at her and said, “really? You can see that they’re getting bigger?”  She answered, “Oh yeah.”  I said, “cool,” and she got this amused look on her face, apparently appreciating that I was feeling pretty good about myself.

Today was weight training. No problem there. Great workout, and I did the whole thing with Brett.  I hit muscle failure a number of times, and couldn’t keep up w/ Brett.  Also, on the final cardio of the day, I tried to run at 6mph, but my calf started cramping up on me, so I had to pull it back a little.

Then, I hit the locker room, and in the shower (I think I noticed it first in the shower) my neck started hurting. Like I’d slept on it wrong or something, but I obviously hadn’t been sleeping.  The pain got worse throughout the rest of the day.  This was no Tylenol pain. When I got home, it was so bad that I hit the medicine cabinet to see if I had any of the oxycodone I’d been prescribed a few months ago for my tooth extraction.  This is really bad pain, and spikes whenever I move my head in pretty much any direction.

I’ll have to see how I’m doing tomorrow, and hope that I’m not feeling this, or I might not be able to work out. The last few times I’ve had neck pain, its been short lived (24 - 48 hours) so I’m hopeful that this will be the same thing.
