Day 78: Best run yet.

Not much to report today, except that throwing snow on Sunday (a very heavy, very wet snow) actually did cause some pain in my back muscles. That doesn’t seem to have hampered my workout, though.

I ran 1.24 miles in 12 minutes, my best run yet.

As for weight, I weighed in at 269 lbs. Basically, no real loss for the week. However, its interesting to note that when I decided to just step on the scale last Friday for kicks, I weighed in at 266 lbs. Anyway, I am undeterred. I ran better and faster than any other week, and I keep in mind that my waist is now 3 inches smaller than it was when I started this project.

Two other things are happening. First, I find that I’m getting a bit complacent. I’ve seen the progress and am pretty happy with it. I know there can (and will) be more, but I can definitely feel the urge to ‘take it easy’, to not kill myself on eating and working out.

The second is just about the opposite of the first: after about 2 weeks of dealing with my run-away sister-in-law, life is getting back to normal around my home and in my life. So, I’m hoping that I’ll make it to the gym more regularly AND that I’ll be more focused on what I’m doing.

Finally, just as a side note, Multigrain Tostitos are actually pretty good, but Kashi TLC Stoneground 7 grain crackers suck. Its one thing to want to eat healthy. Its another thing to choke down food that isn’t enjoyable. Oh, and Cabot 50% reduced fat Habanero Cheddar is really REALLY hot. No kidding. Not sure if its good or not, though. I think I seared my taste buds.

Addendum - next morning.

I had the wife check those TLC crackers out this morning and she said she didn’t think it was the cracker so much as the fact that they smelled spoiled to her (though the expiration date is for 4 months from now). I had eaten several of them before I condemned the box (guess I figured I’d see if it was an ‘acquired’ taste) and didn’t get sick, so I’m not entirely ready to believe that they were spoiled. Anyway, we busted open the TLC Garlic and Thyme crackers, an they are actually pretty good, so maybe the Stoneground 7 Grain we got was just got a bad batch, but maybe they just really suck.
