Day 66: 5K and Water Weight

Its now been a week since the madness began with my sister began, and I’ve been all over, trying to get papers to run the story, trying to get police to listen, and talking to kids on myspace and parents on the website, trying to get clues as to where Manessa might actually be.

But things have also slowed down a bit on the web side, and others are handing the footwork, so I made it into work for most of the day, and finally back into the gym. Brett was out on a Manager’s offsite meeting, and Mike was just off. So, I was alone, with a totally destroyed schedule and days worth of stress to burn.  All I wanted to do was move, so I just got on the treadmill and ran 5K (about 3.1 mi).  I suppose I could have done my 12 minute run, but I wanted to go long, not far, so I kept the speeds down to between 4.3 and 4.8 mph for the duration of the run.  No way I was running 10 minute miles. More like 12 or 13 minute miles.  Still, its my first full 5K for the training, and the first time I recall running 3 miles w/out dying in almost 5 years.  Also, I believe the run for a Sprint Triathlon (which will be the first I do, I think) is a 5K.

I also missed Monday’s weigh-in, and since it’ll be Monday again in a few days, I decided to do an ‘unofficial’ weigh-in, just to see what happened. I weighed in at 171.25. That’s a small drop.  Just for kicks, after running for most of an hour, I weighed in again, but came in at 170 lbs. Just a small example of how much water can affect the scales, I guess.

I’m supposed to meet with Jamie tomorrow night after work, so I’ll check in again after that.
