Day 63: Sorry I’ve been Missing
Folks, a couple of things. First off all, I’ve been looking for my 16 year old sister-in-law. She moved from Bristol, CT to Florida this summer, but the Friday before Thanksgiving, she got on a bus and ran away from home. Apparently she came back up this way to be with her 37 year old boy friend. I don’t want to get into details here, but you can see what I’ve been working on for the past several days here:

What this has meant is that this weekend was beyond stressful for me. I don’t even remember what I’ve eaten. I’ve made some efforts to pay attention to what was going in, but really, its all a blur. I’ve had some unbelievable help from friends and colleagues, especially people from my twitter network. They helped draw attention to the site and several provided great advice and insight into how to handle a search operation.
Even though I didn’t ramp any of this up until Friday, last week was affected by this a quite a bit, and I also had several deadlines looming. In all, I got thru Thursday pretty well, but ran into trouble with cramping on Wednesday and Thursday. I think I was just too tired. The mind was willing, but the body (mostly my legs) was shutting down.
Friday, I had a going-away lunch with my team at work for two guys who are leaving. So I had planned to go workout after work, but I TOTALLY FORGOT until I got all the way home.
So, then I figured that I’d workout on Saturday, but once I started this campaign to find my sister-in-law, I couldn’t get away. I had too many people asking questions, searching the web, the town, whatever, looking for traces of Manessa, where she might be, how we might find her, etc. Very, very busy. I didn’t get to bed until 4am on both Saturday and Sunday. So, I’m not sure how tomorrow will go, but it will be typically difficult.
Not sure I’ll be going to work tomorrow, either. I need to talk to the superintendent of schools in Bristol to let them know that there’s a man who likes enticing young girls and also need to see if we can get all of Manessa’s friends to check out the site, leave encouraging comments and maybe even give us some idea of where she might be if anyone knows.
I’ll try not to stay away quite so long next time.
Thanks.
And thanks for the great write-up, Brett.
