Day 38: Missed Today!

So, just trying to keep up. Last night I only got 4 hours of sleep, because I was working on client work, then had to get up for Adobe Training first thing this morning. So, I’m dead tired, and heading off to bed in a few minutes.

Yesterday was a good day for me. Did 84 lengths in the pool in 45 minutes. Just under 1 1/4 miles. Started off tired, and didn’t think I would really be able to cover any distance, but after the first 1/4 mile, I started feeling really good, loosened up, and was able to move at a decent clip. So, that made me feel pretty good. Actually, I ALWAYS feel good when I finish swimming.

After work, there was a small going away party for some friends. Nothing big, just ‘dessert’. I had a couple of hors d’oeuvres made of pickles pieces and cream cheese wrapped in ham. They’re called frogs and pretty good. Also had some crackers w/cheese and pepperoni or salami. While I stayed away from all of the normal stuff, like the cake, donuts, m&ms and other stuff, someone made a home made oatmeal cake. I’d never had it before, so I chose to try it. It was VERY good. This I guess is what is meant when Jamie told me something to the effect of, “when you see a spread full of good food, find one or two items that look great, and have those. Then you won’t get overwhelmed by lots of food that is only ‘good’”.

Today was another matter entirely. Food wasn’t a big deal for me. Lunch was on rye bread, but it was the best choice available at the catered meal. However, I was in training all day. Didn’t have time at lunch to go to the gym, so, I decided to try to get there after work. Except, it turns out that in my haste to get out of the house in time to get to training, I forgot my gym bag. So I had no clothes. Then training ran long, and I had a 7pm appointment with a client, so after work never happened either. Training started on the 4th floor, and ended up on the 1st floor. Catered food was on the 4th floor, and the exit to the building was on the 3rd floor. I had to go up and down a number of times, so I decided to skip the elevator and use the stairs. While it wasn’t an actual cardio workout, I can tell you I started to feel it.

What I’m going to try to do is just bump everything back a day and I’ll come in on Saturday to cover today. I’ll talk to Mike and/or Brett tomorrow to see what they think of that idea.
