Day 36: Week 5 Weigh-in

No too much to report, really.

The weekend was fairly uneventful as far as training goes. Mostly, we just cleaned house and then I spent a lot of time trying to catch up on side jobs. I really can’t wait until they are all over and I can relax a little. I’m feeling fairly stressed about them.

As far as today went, I weighed in at 278 lbs, which isn’t too much lower than last week, but I suppose is on par with 6 lbs a month, which is what Mike told me to expect. The real pleaser was that I ran 1.08 miles in 12 minutes, which was a very happy improvement for me. In fact, at one point, I accidentally must have touched a control on the treadmill’s screen, because the speed dropped from 5.8 mph to 2 mph, and I frantically worked to reset it. It felt like I lost about 20 seconds to technical difficulties. I really think if that hadn’t happened, I might have gotten to 1.1 miles. I’ll get it next week. Overall, the run was the most comfortable that its been to date. I was able to stretch out my stride, and at no point did I feel like I was going to die, which actually surprised me, because I almost always feel like I’m going to die for the last 2 or 3 minutes.

Sunday wasn’t the best food-wise. We were out and my wife REALLY wanted to go to Five Guys Burgers. There really isn’t a lot of options there. Basically, they sell, burgers, fries, burgers, hot dogs, burgers, veggie burgers (no thank you) and grilled cheese sandwiches. With top Zagat ratings since 2000, I can tell you, they have unbelievably good burgers. Apparently they get a lot of practice. Unlike a lot of other burger joints, their burgers are not giant bags of grease. Maybe they’ve got a giant George Foreman grill back there. I don’t know. Even their fries are cooked in peanut oil, so no cholesterol. But, fried is fried, and oils have fats, so I didn’t go crazy with the fries. As for the burger, I just ordered their Little Bacon Cheeseburger. I figured, I might as well enjoy the burger, which is why I got the bacon, but also decided that there’s no reason to over do it, which is why I got the little one. Turns out it was plenty.  2 months ago, I would have ordered the big burger and wished I had more.

Tonight, I’ve had the munchies all night. Been fighting them between meals. Don’t know what set them off, but something did. What a pain. Gonna grab a pb & banana sandwich, and hit the sack.

Nite!
