Day 17: Oct 17th - 1/2 Swim

Nothing really new today. I had a parent/teacher conference that started at 1:15, so had to leave lap swim 1/2 hour early, and only got in 1/2 hour of laps.  56 lengths, so just over 3/4 of a mile.  Since it was going to be a short day, I focused on keeping my speed up a bit and on my form.  Felt good today. Not too sluggish.

When I got back to the office, Jamie was giving a short class on nutrition, so I sat in (that’s how I met her, the company hired her to work with the employees).  I learned that the Vitamin Water sitting in front of me should go (125 calories straight from sugar).  When I asked about the vitamin content, she said “take a multivitamin and drink water”.  At least she said it with a smile. :)

An odd side effect of my mother-in-law visiting was that for the past three days my wife has been running around a lot, and there is literally no food in the house.  Well, sure, there’s the odd box of cereal or crackers. Even some cheese and some lettuce.  But there’s no bread, no meat, no veggies.  Almost no fruit.  And since my wife was dropping mom off at the airport, no wife, either.  So, I picked up my kid from her aunt’s after work and then swung by Boston Market on the way home.  1/4 white chicken (peeled the skin myself), mashed potatoes w/ a little gravy, mixed veggies and that little corn bread.  Can’t wait to hear what Jamie says about that meal.

My predictions are:

  • Chicken = good
  • Mashed Potatos w/ Gravy = OK. Better than mac and cheese, but…
  • Mixed Veggies = good
  • Corn Bread = better call that dessert. and carbs.

We’ll see.
