Day 12: Cardio & Agave Grill

Mike was in again, and I think he took pleasure in putting me on the Stair Master stair mill for the first time. Wow. Tough stuff. Spent 10 mins on the stair mill, 20 on the bike, 15 on the treadmill and 15 on the arc trainer. 1 hour.

Also, as a schedule update, Brett has taken Mike’s schedule:

  • Mon - Weights
  • Tue - Cardio
  • Wed - Swim
  • Thur - Weights
  • Fri - Cardio or Swim

and has decided that we’re swimming on Friday every other week.

Tonight’s dinner wasn’t my best moment to date. I’d been dying for a couple of soft beef tacos from the Agave Grill for over a week now, and hadn’t been able to get out there. And now that I’m allowed to eat corn chips, I knew I could go in and not stress while there was a basket of chips and salsa on the table. Looking at the meal when it got there, though, surprised me. There was no fruit/vegetables except some lettuce and tomatoes in the tacos. Beans and rice on the side. Beef in flour tortilla. The whole meal was protein and carbs. Next time I’ll have to see if I can get other veggie-type sides to compliment my tacos.

TIPS:

I’ve got one more tip for the week, and its on a subject that is sensitive in many ways.  I ran across a product at the Biker’s Edge in Bristol last week called Chamois Butt’r. It’s made to help lube up areas of your body that may chafe while exercising, and come on, let’s face it, larger folks like myself are bound to have some areas that chafe while working out. I certainly do.

In fact, my build includes what we in our family call the Wilson Legs. Very strong, wide, muscular legs. They are a blessing and a curse, since, even when in great shape, we often deal with chafing between the legs. Now, my dad said that in the military, he used to take a pair of nylons and turn them into under shorts to fight the problem. I’ve often used tight biking shorts myself (though not lately for a number of aesthetic reasons). So I tried this Chamois Butt’r, and after 3 uses (2 of which were hour long cardio sessions), I can say that its worked tremendously well, as I’ve not had so much as a sore spot.  It showers off very cleanly.

You should be able to find a trial packet for about $2. I’ve gotten 3 uses out of the trial packet, and it looks like there’s one more in it. I will be buying a tube of it moving forward.
