Day 151: Sleepless in Bristol, CT

Monday I had a tooth filled. I had planned to go to the gym that day, but when it came time, I had a headache, I couldn’t feel half my face (then I could and I wasn’t sure that was any better) and I was very hungry since I hadn’t been able to eat while my filling set. So, I bailed on the gym and went to lunch.

Tuesday was a GREAT workout. Totally awesome. I weighed in at 264 lbs. Still no running. The clicking in my knee hasn’t gone away at all. I’m starting to think it has nothing to do with tendinitis, or that at the very least, I might need to take more drastic measures.

Wednesday was another great workout. I swam 1 mile in 35 minutes. Not a really hard swim, but it was a strong pace and I felt good. Actually, I did the last 12 lengths in 6 minutes. That was more of a sprint and was still pretty good.

Today sucked, though. I’m way over-tired. Not enough sleep this week. I felt lousy all day, my whole body ached and when it came time for lunch, I decided I’d rather take it easy and try to make it thru the rest of the day rather than wipe myself out at the gym. Actually, it wasn’t even a decision, really. I just couldn’t bring myself to go. So I skipped the gym, hoping to conserve enough energy to get myself thru this evening’s activities, but when I got home, I went ahead and canceled them anyway. Just too tired. Sat here at home, read stories to my daughter, and decided to catch this blog up.

So, I’m going to go ahead and hit the sack now and try to recover somewhat so I can swim tomorrow.

Also, since I’m one of ESPN’s web designers, its my job to help keep up our extranet sites. I’m updating http://espntriteam.espn.com/ with this year’s focus races, so in a day or two you’ll be able see the site updated for 2008.  Now I can start making a race schedule for this season, too.  I’m not looking to do a race every weekend like some of these guys, but I’d like to do at least one a month. Once I’ve chosen the races I’d like to attend, I’ll post them here.

Sneak Peek: the first race will probably be a 2 mile run in March. Hope to see you there!

The biggest problem I see is that a lot of the races are on Sundays, and I’m usually with my family on Sunday mornings. I guess you could say we’re a fairly religious family. I actually don’t even have a problem with running on Sunday, but I just can’t see the timing working out in most cases.
