Day 142: 5 Month Weigh-in
Well, we’re just over half-way thru this thing. I’m a bit behind my goal of losing 60 lbs by the time this thing is over, but I think its my own fault. My diet hasn’t been as ‘on track’ as it could be.
I did make it in to the gym on Sunday. I did a full 3 sets of my workout, too. Good day, in all. My weekend workout is a mentally (if not physically) comfortable workout. No strange exercises. All weights. And weekends are slow at the gym. Not too many folks in and I don’t have to finish quickly so I can get back to work. I’m finding that I really like coming in on the weekend, but its just not doable twice a weekend. Too bad.
The gym was closed on Monday for Presidents day, so once again, my weigh-in was a day late. One lesson I’ve learned is that its poor judgement to plan things for recurring Mondays. So, today I weighed in and did my standard Monday workout. The workout was fun, but I only had time to get thru 2 sets. Also, while I thought I had pretty much kicked this bug, after the workout, my sinuses let loose. Nothing gross or anything, but during the workout my throat got really dry, and I’ve pretty much been carrying around kleenexes ever since. Fun is…
Anyway, the weigh-in.
Brett is officially gone, and Mike went on a cruise for a week, so I enlisted the help of Garrett, another trainer and Mike’s boss to help me out with the Tanita body fat measurement. This ate up a bunch of time. See, my body fat count came in at 34.5%. A full 10% higher than last month. The shocked look on my face had Garrett asking me what I was expecting, and when I told him it was 24% last month, he basically said “no way.” 10% in a month just isn’t possible without extreme measures; measures which I’m NOT taking. So, he looked at my initial drop from 36.5% to 24.5% back in November, and again said “no way” and mentioned that I might not have gotten a clean reading since starting. Bummer. We tried a couple of different measurements, and got the same thing each time. Anyway, he’s buying a new Tanita, so by next week we’ll have more accurate measurements. One that you can just hold with your hands instead of balancing on.
I’m not running, so no 12 minute run this week. In fact, while talking to Garrett, I mentioned the tendonitis and Garrett completely agreed with the doctor. No running for a week or two. Especially on the treadmill and especially on an incline.
As for my weight, last Friday after I was sick, I weighed in at 259 lbs. On Sunday, I weighed in at 261 lbs. Today, I weighed in at 263 lbs. That’s 4 lbs in 4 days. Garrett says I’m rehydrating nicely. OK. Too bad. I really liked seeing the sub-260 lb weight. I’m going to do something about that.
Finally, push-ups. 39. There. Measurable improvement. I’ll take it. Love it.
