Is Fat in Your Diet Dangerous?
At my last meeting with Jamie, we talked a little bit about a number of things including fat in the diet. One of the things that we talked about was the importance of fat in a person’s diet.
One of the things that fat does for your body is trigger the response of feeling full. Without fat, you don’t feel satisfied, and you tend to eat more. Also, a lot of ‘fat free’ foods make up for flavor with sugar or by using artificial sweeteners which some (including myself) are uncomfortable with.
After the meeting, Jamie emailed me a couple of links. The first is an article in the NY Times written by science journalist Gary Taubes entitled What if It’s All Been a Big Fat Lie? The other link is a talk that Gary Taubes gave to UC Berkeley students called The Quality of Calories: What Makes Us Fat and Why Nobody Seems to Care.
Interesting information to think about when planning your next meal.
