Day 105: Watching a Blizzard Roll In
Let’s work backward. I’ll start with tomorrow, then today, then I’ll finish by talking about my botched workout yesterday.
Tonight we’re supposed to get 12-14 inches of snow. Welcome to winter in New England. Its a classic Nor’easter. What this means for me is that I’ve got to get to bed NOW so that I can get up in time to spend an hour shoveling the walk and drive in the morning so that I can get out of here on time to get to work.
It also means I’ll be in to work late, and I may not be able to get to the gym and weigh in, though I’m going to pretend that I can. If I can’t (LOTS of work tomorrow at the office and I’ll be getting a late start), I’ll weigh in and do the 12 minute run on Tuesday. As for the workout, its not a big deal, since I’ll be clearing snow twice tomorrow. Once when I get up, and again when I get home. Probably about 2 hours of physical exertion. Actually, as much complaining as I do about snow (I really don’t appreciate snow when I have to go out. When I can stay in or work from home, I kind of like it) one thing I really can enjoy if I’m not in a hurry is shoveling it. Its peaceful, quiet, and I can just think and work. Nice.
Nothing major happened today. The finger has healed up pretty good. No visible sign of the injury, though its still a bit sensitive to pressure or while typing on the keyboard.
Yesterday, though, was less than optimal. I got to the gym, which is new for me. Until now, I haven’t really had to get to the gym on the weekend. I did my warm up and was feeling good. It was attempt 2 to complete the day 2 strength workout, and about 1/2 way thru the first set, I noticed that things were being turned off. I pulled my earbuds out of my ears and asked if they were closing, and it turns out that I only had about 10 minutes left. Turns out that on Saturdays and Sundays, the gym closes at 5. Live and learn. So, after 2 tries, I STILL haven’t completed a full set of the Day 2 strength training. Perhaps I’m destined to never complete this routine.
Food has been interesting this weekend. There’s not a lot in the house, and I’ve been feeling like a bottomless pit. Trying real hard to make good choices, but its just harder at home than at work. I guess we’ll see how I did on the scale tomorrow or Tuesday.
